Second Chances Start With Breaking Negative Cycles

What Are Key Challenges Facing At-Risk Youth and Young Adults?

"The United States has some of the highest recidivism rates in the world.  According to the National Institute of Justice, almost 44% of ex-offenders released return before the first year out of prison (especially for those between 18 and 25 years old).” (World Population Review 2024
The number for rearrest is drastically higher for juvenile offenders. Based on data collected by Worldmetric.org, for youth offenders the rearrest rate is as high as 80% with an average of 75% within three years for those released from detention.

Some of the negative behavior patterns and habits exhibited in our youth and young adults have been attributed to severe mental health issues, however others may be suffering from poor decision-making abilities and environmental cues.  This underscores the growing need for effective programs across the country.

How Can We Assist In Solving These Issues?

Recent statistics show that programs led by formerly at-risk youth and young adults (credible messengers) can be highly effective, particularly when they leverage the lived experiences to build trust, provide relatable role models, and foster cultural competence.

TACP (Tru' Alchemi Consulting & Publishing) is here to offer a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-inspired program and materials led by a credible messenger who was once considered at-risk and now has a professional coaching background.   Wellness Specialist, Coach Mike D.A. has spent close to two decades structuring the necessary method to transform lives starting with his own.  He’s now ready to show participants how to achieve:

  • Increase Positive Behaviors: Our program helps participants reshape belief systems that hinder their success.
  • Teach Accountability & Discipline: Participants learn self-accountability, self-discipline, and responsibility, guided by a mentor who has walked in their shoes.
  • Promote Lifelong Success: Beyond behavioral change, we equip participants with life skills for career development and personal growth.

What's The Solution?

The Journey of Breaking Cycles” Behavior Modification Program

Coach Mike D.A. has designed a program to provide communities with a set of tools to reach people who may have been deemed unreachable before through other materials and inspiration.

His unique background and knowledge lends street-credibility mixed with formal education to speak among both “hardened individuals” and academic intellectuals.  The mission is to be more effective change agents guiding at-risk individuals into productive lives.

"The Journey of Breaking Cycles: How To Improve Your Life In NINE PROVEN Steps" outlines nine steps that participants will follow in order to change their behavior and habits.  In addition, they are offered practical guidelines for organizing their time, finding their purpose, and improving their financial literacy.

DISCLAIMER: This work is not intended to replace the services of licensed psychiatrists, therapists, or social workers for clinically diagnosed individuals. Instead, it offers supplemental materials that support the efforts of licensed professionals in the behavioral health field. Our guidelines are developed by someone with firsthand experience from an at-risk background, adding credibility to the services offered by our partner organizations.

Who Is Coach Mike D.A.?

Coach Mike D.A. hit rock bottom in his life by the age of 26. He went from owning his first house at 19 years old to sleeping on the floor of a federal prison cell several years later.  He did a total of 10 years throughout the United States Bureau of Prisons system (with another one year spent in ODYS when he was 17).

A decade later, Coach Mike D.A. emerged back into society as a changed man that stepped into the roles of a wellness expert, youth coach, and entrepreneur.  He even became an executive director of a non-profit and partnered with dozens of community organizations and politicians in the process.  He has experienced and overcome mental health issues, substance abuse, homelessness, and recidivism.

Coach Mike D.A. continues his mission to guide at-risk youth and young adults into improving their lives with TACP by collaborating with other like-minded organizations and government agencies.  Join him in providing the necessary personal development resources to those in our community who need them the most.

"Great book (program). Very informative. It touches on areas in life that are rarely discussed. Good for healing or personal growth. This is a bluprint for growing as a person. Wow, I learned a lot. Thank you and awaiting more books (programs) from Coach Mike D.A"
